In the second part of their super SUV super test, Autocar takes the new Range Rover and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo to an off-road facility and put them through their paces. Before this the Range Rover beat the Cayenne in terms of refinement and comfort, while the Porsche took the win for the best handling and road holding. So this is the decider. The off-road challenge will reveal which of these two is the SUV king.
Now, there is a controversy going on about this test and the result of the final showdown. The reviewer Steve Sutcliffe is accused of being biased toward the Range Rover by putting it on the less slippery, less steep side of the hill and giving it an all-out effort to win the challenge. It’s not like he’s got a thing against the Cayenne, but we have to say in the video it doesn’t seem like the driver of the Porsche is putting a lot of effort into, well, driving it.
