A drop-top version of the new SRT viper is indeed in the works, but as the Company’s top brass made it clear recently, they are not in a rush to launch it. They want to take their sweet time over this one. So until then we have to make do with virtual models, and here’s a good one.
Designed by X-Tomi Design, this rendering shows us what an open-top SRT Viper would look like. The previous convertible Vipers had a very simple manual fabric roof. We have a sneaking suspicion the new sophisticated Viper won’t settle for something like that. We reckon it is going to get an electric roof, which means it is going to be considerably heavier than hard-top, given the weight of the roof components and the strengthening beams they have to add to compensate for the lack of roof.
Still, it is not likely for the SRT Viper Convertible to get any more power than the Coupe. When you lose the roof you lose all sense of sportiness. It’ll turn the car into a fast cruiser.
