With the introduction of Ertiga, earlier named as Maruti R3, Maruti Suzuki has taken into its ambit almost all car segments. Ensuing the strong labelling and little looking after quality of Maruti cars, Maruti Ertiga has hit bang on the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) market. Seven seater Ertiga is tagged as the great family car.

Ertiga means Three Rows in Indonesian language. Although the looks and features say that it is a MPV, Ertiga is placed in the sub-segment of Utility vehicles and this fresh segment is entitled as LUV-Life Utility Vehicle by Maruti.

Exterior

The Maruti Ertiga is designed by Suzuki’s design division in Japan. Ertiga is based on the RIII concept, and is based on Swift’s platform. Ertiga’s exteriors are motivated from Ritz hatchback specifically if styling is measured. In the front, the nose of car has slot-like grille and protruding bonnet. The Suzuki emblem is attached over the radiator grille. The lower portion or chin of Ertiga is much extensive and bulky. The air creek amid the body coloured bumper is hefty perfecting a MPV look and so are the insertions that holds the fog lights. The headlights are bulgy in appearance and sweeping sideward. Ertiga comes with shaded rear windscreen enfolding itself around the back interpreting the MPV a ‘pillar-less’ appearance from the back. Even a wiper and defogger can be seen on the rear windscreen.  Adding more charm is the 15 inches of alloy wheels, which confirms smooth ride with a ground clearance of 185mm.

Ertiga is a brave and chippy creativity, in which Maruti’s designers have cautiously built in structures and qualities of a sedan. The interiors provide a range of fresh features such as a 3-spoke, central door locking, tilt variable electric steering, multi information display, twin AC, durable audio system  with USB Compatibility and 4+2 speakers, steering affixed audio switches, and keyless entry, power windows with auto down on driver’s flank and electrically adjustable ORVMs. Maruti Ertiga has a three-row flexi-seating arrangement for 7 passengers (2+3+2) that is stress-free to function and is great on storage area.

Engine

Maruti Ertiga is manufactured in both variants – diesel and petrol. Both the variants comprise of 4-cylinder in-line placements in the engine. The petrol variant of the car is empowered by a 1.4 litre power train. With a displacement of 1373 cc, the petrol engine boosts a topmost power of 95 PS along with a topmost torque of 130 Nm. A1.3L multijet turbo diesel engine with DDiS (Direct Diesel Injection System) with a shift of 1248 cc is the power of diesel engine that comes coupled with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) for superior competence. The max. Power is 90 PS and max. Torque is 20.39kgm, respectively. 5-speed manual transmission is standard on both variants. Ertiga in both versions come with BS-IV emission standards. To prevent noise levels, Maruti’s engineers have concealed the engine harbour with sound-muffling material and used hydraulic engine mounts for further reducing vibrations.

The Ertiga is here to heighten one’s lifestyle– a commanding and reactive engine; trendy blissful interiors with great superior upholstery. All of these come altogether in a sporty body design.
