With everything you’ve heard and saw about new Jaguar F-Type, we’re pretty certain you are going to get one. That is of course if you can afford one. What’s not to like about a drop-top British sports car that is fast, sexy and well-equipped, and sounds like a vintage race car. Now the question many people are asking themselves is which version to get. So let’s go for a ride in all three and see what’s what.

Motor Trend’s Kim Reynolds went to Pamplona, Spain, to the F-Type press event and tried all versions of the car. Here’s the verdict:

All Jaguar F-Type models feature an all-aluminum construction, but the base model has a 3.0 liter V6, the V6S has a supercharged version of that, and the V8S has a meaty 495 horsepower supercharged 5.0 liter V8. The finest of them all is, unsurprisingly, the middle one. It offers the perfect balance between power, efficiency, and value for money.
