The Silver Screen has been particularly nice to petrolheads this past couple of years, providing them with lots of awesome stuff, including Senna, Fast Five and Six, Rush, and now the Need For Speed movie. The last one, the NFS, is shaping up to be the most epic car movie of all time, mainly because of the amazing lineup of exotic cars starring in it.

Ford has just announced that they have teamed up with Dreamworks to provide the movie with a special Mustang hero car, and it will go on to star in the upcoming NFS franchise video games. The Mustang is not a particularly brilliant machine, but it has a lot of swagger. And that makes it perfect for a movie like need For Speed.

The hero Mustang will be heavily featured throughout the film, and becomes part of the mythology of the story. It will be driven by Aaron Paul, who you may remember from AMC’s hit TV series Breaking Bad.

Ford is also supplying the film makers with an F-450 truck known in the film as “The Beast,” as well as another Mustang to serve as a specially designed camera car.

“’The Need for Speed’ movie will embody everything that fans of action racing films want to see – hot cars, high-stakes street racing and mind-blowing stunts,” said Scott Waugh, director of the “Need for Speed” film. “The adrenaline-fueled story across America will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”
