Ford Fiesta is the definition of a perfect family hatchback – in Britain at least. And the recent milestone it’s achieved in sales is further proof of this fact. The four millionth Fiesta has been delivered to a customer in the North East today, cementing its position as Britain’s best-selling family car.
Ford has sold over 17 million Fiesta models in 80 markets worldwide since the model’s conception. In recent years, and mainly in Europe, the popularity of the Fiesta grew rapidly thanks to the introduction of the award-winning 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine.
A third of Ford Fiesta customers choose the turbo-charged unit, and 90 percent of them pair it with the luxury specification Zetec, Titanium or Titanium X, with Ford SYNC voice-controlled connectivity system. Unsurprisingly, the milestone car, a Fiesta Zetec in Candy Blue, is also powered by the 1.0 liter engine.
The Fiesta comes with a generous amount of kit on its base model, which is priced at £11,495, including MyKey (limiting vehicle speed and audio volume for novice drivers), radio/CD with USB connection, remote central locking, electrically operated front windows, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, air conditioning, Hill Launch Assist, seven airbags, Electronic Stability Programme and headlight courtesy delay.
