We haven’t stopped being amazed yet by the performance of Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak at the famous American hill climb race, but the car is not waiting for anyone. It arrived at Goodwood a few days after shattering the Pikes Peak record, and guess what – it ripped the British hill apart as well.
This time the stunning 208 T16 didn’t have Sebastian Loeb behind its wheel. The job of piloting it up the 1.6-mile course was given to test-driver Grégory Guilvert. The car and the driver, it has to be mentioned, didn’t have enough time to get acclimated with the venue – which was a big change after what they experienced at Pikes Peak.
Nevertheless, they hit the hill, and they hit it hard. The result was a time of 45.86 seconds, which was fastest during the weekend, and the same as Nick Heidfeld’s run in the Group C prototype Lola B12/60 race car.
Besides the T16, Peugeot’s lineup for this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed included the 600bhp V8 hybrid electric, carbon and copper clad Onyx Concept car, the Proxima and RC HYbrid in the Cartier Style et Luxe, and the world debut of the RCZ R – a 270bhp Sports Coupé with race-bred development, plus the new 208 GTi, a 208 Nürburgring 24hr endurance race car, the luxury 208 XY, the new 2008 Crossover and Colin McRae’s old Peugeot 309 from a private collector.
