Jaguar’s super special XKR-S GT edition was initially developed for the U.S. market. But after the positive feedback it received from the British public during its public dynamic debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Company decided to sell a few in the UK as well.
Britain will only get 10 XKR-S GTs, while U.S. and Canada will get 30. In the UK the GT will cost £135,000, which is Maserati kind of money. Bu then the GT is a very special mode, and one that is very, very fast.
Powered by the same Supercharged V8 engine as the normal XKR-S models, the GT packs 550PS and 680Nm. Sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed transmission and an electronic differential, that power enables the big cat to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and reach an electronically limited top speed of 186mph.
Visually, the GT is distinguished by a bespoke aero kit including a carbon-fibre front splitter, dive planes, extended wheelarch spats, an elevated rear wing, rear diffuser and an aluminium valance.
The car also features uprated suspension, faster, more precise steering system adapted from the F-Type, and carbon-ceramic brakes with 398mm and 380mm discs front/rear with six piston calipers up front and four-piston out back. All these changes add up to make the XKR-S GT a very desirable track toy.
