Even though it is getting harder and harder for small, private car firms to stay in business these days, there are still those who have a vision, and the guts to make it happen. California-based Lucra is one of those companies, and they are currently working on this magnificent thing you see here.
The car doesn’t have a name yet – it’s apparently condemned 2.2 – but a brief look at these first images is enough for you to start fantasizing about it. Call it whatever you like in your dreams!
The new Lucra is a two-seater roadster sports car, following the same recipe that made cars like the Shelby Cobra so great. That is a lightweight body, a big V8 engine, and just enough sophistication to make it work properly. It has to be a bit intimidating and a bit of handful to feel special. Those are the classic characteristics of a proper American sports car.
The design of the car has a whiff of old Stingrays about it, what with the short tail, long bonnet, and the pointy front-end that takes a sudden dip after the front fenders. It looks classic, and with eight tailpipes – four on each sides of the car – it is also quite scary.
They haven’t decided on the engine yet, but it will certainly be a V8 provided by either GM or AMG. If they let us choose, we’d go for the 6.3 AMG V8 with a proper manual gearbox and LSD.
