Unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show, the new Z/28 Camaro will soon join the lineup as the latest track-focused version of the popular muscle car. Chevy already has the ZL1 and the 1LE in the Camaro family, so what can the Z/28 bring to the table that the other two can’t?
Well, check out this review of the car by Jay Leno and Al Oppenheiser, Chief Engineer at General Motors, to find out:
True to the Z/28 tradition, the car does not come with air conditioning and only has a basic radio, even though it costs more than a fully-loaded ZL1. On the upside, it comes as standard with Recaro seats and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. So really, it is a track toy. Same applies to the aero kit on this car. Aesthetically, it is rubbish, to be honest. But it does enhance the Z/28’s aerodynamic efficiency.
The Z/28 is powered by a tweaked LS7 V8 engine featuring unique induction with racing-style, cold-air induction system and large K&N air filters and sport exhaust system, which delivers an estimated 500 horsepower (373 kW) and 470 lb-ft of torque (637 Nm).
