The unique Ford Mustang Air Force Thunderbirds Edition one-off has finally been auctioned at the Gathering of Eagles, part of the AirVenture Oshkosh 2013. The magnificent ‘Stang managed to raise the considerable sum of $398,000, all of which will go to the EAA Young Eagles program.

The Young Eagles is basically an Air Force recruitment program that provides free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992, helping inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators and innovators. Ford has always been a major supporter of the organization, raising more than $2.5 million to support Young Eagles by auctioning vehicles during EAA AirVenture events.

The 400 grand Mustang is a 2014 GT model, VIN 0001, a custom brilliant white paint with red and blue accents, as well as markings and logos, modeled on the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Falcon aircraft. Apart form the unique paint job, it also features a wide body kit y 3D Carbon and custom 22-inch wheels by Forgiato.
