Infiniti G37 Sedan Lives To Fight Another Day

With the introduction of the new Infiniti nomenclature and the amazing new Q50 sedan, one would expect the old G37 to be immediately killed off. But Infiniti has other plans for the car, and they are going to keep it in production alongside the Q50 until mid-2015. They just announced the pricing for the G37 sedan 2014MY.

And the prices are rather dear for such an old timer. The G37 comes in two guises, both powered by Nissan’s sporty 3.7 liter V6 engine. There is the rear-wheel-drive Journey model, and an AWD version. The former is priced at $32,550, and the latter at $34,150, while both have a destination charge of $905. Only two options will be available, the Premium and Navigation Packages.

In comparison, a new and shiny Q50 with a much better exterior, refined interior, and improved dynamics – powered by the same 328 horsepower 3.7 liter V6 – starts at $36,700; a premium well worth paying.

Infiniti says keeping the G37 in the market alongside the Q50 enables them to pursue a two-pronged strategy: “It creates room to strategically offer the repositioned G37 at the lower end of the near luxury segment in addition to the higher-positioned Q50. The two vehicles aim at different market segments and allow us to serve different customer needs.
