It is quite amazing that it is the Japanese who are making the best driver’s cars these days; cars like the Lexus LFA, Nissan GT-R, Toyota GT-86 and Mazda MX-5. Speaking of the GT86 and the MX-5, it seems that they are engaging in a brutal civil war.
The 86 has been constantly threatening MX-5’s territory as the world’s finest affordable sports car. In fact, if it wasn’t for Mazda’s main advantage. which is being a convertible, the Toyota could have caused more damage to its market.
That brings us to the subject of this post, which is pondering the possibility of a coupe MX-5. That little car with a proper hardtop would be even sweeter to drive, and, judging by what we can see in these renderings by Theophilus Chin, it would look quite interesting as well. Mazda is working on an all-new MX-5, as you know. Who knows, maybe that one gets a coupe variant.
