Even though there is a new Lexus IS out there available, if you want the hotted-up IS F version, you have to settle for the old look version. So much the better, seeing as the new IS is a horrible looking car. The old one is way more decent, and its performance can still cut it.
The 2014 Lexus IS F continues with the same powertrain as before, but for the new modelyear it gets LED foglamps, carbon fiber rear spoiler, headrests embossed with “F” logo, Alcantara trim (black) added to doors and center console cover, and leather-trimmed seats in b or red.
The engine powering the Japanese M3 is a 5.0 liter aluminum V8 developing 416 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 371 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 5,200 rpm. It’s mated to an eight-speed Sport Direct-Shift automatic transmission with manual shift, and three driving modes of Normal, Snow, and Sport.
In terms of dynamics, the front wheels are 19 x 8.5-inch, with 225/40R19 tires and 19 x 9.5-inch in the rear, with 255/35R19 tires, and the brakes come from Brembo factory in Italy. Important stuff in a car with a top speed of 170 mph. Meanwhile a Torsen rear differential, a sport-tuned suspension, and a sophisticated traction control system work in tandem to provide you with an enjoyable and comfortable drive.
The standard kit on the 2014 Lexus IS F include 10-way power front seats; dual-zone automatic climate control, a pollen filter and smog detector; power moonroof with one-touch open/close and seven open-position settings; power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; three-position memory function for front seats, steering wheel and mirrors; all power windows with automatic up/down operation and jam protection; an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a HomeLink programmable garage door opener; automated rain-sensing wipers and heated auto-dimming outside mirrors with integrated puddle lamps.
