Lexus announced details of the 2014 modelyear RX SUV model available in the American market in two standard V6 and Hybrid guises. Following last year’s thorough facelift, the 2014 RX doesn’t get visual changes, but it does get Siri Eyes Free technology from Apple.

Replacing the standard and frankly rubbish voice recognition system of the yesteryear, Siri car integration allows you call contacts, select and play music from iTunes^®, get turn-by-turn navigation through Siri and Apple maps, and much more. It can also read notifications and calendar information and allow you to add reminders, calendar appointments and notes. The system is compatible with iPhone 4S, 5, and 5S.

As for the technical specs, the 2014 Lexus RX 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine with 270 horsepower. The standard model (FWD and AWD) uses a six-speed automatic transmission while F SPORT uses eight-speed automatic transmission. Speaking of the F Sport, this model comes with twist-spoke 19-inch wheels and F SPORT tuned suspension, as well as more pronounced body panels, fancier leather interior and extra equipment. The RX 350 does 26 mpg.

If it’s fuel economy you are after though, you should go for the 2014 Lexus RX 450h. This hybrid SUV, powered by 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 engine with a front-mounted 116-kW electric motor generator, can do up to 32 mpg. It also has 295 horsepower which is enough for strolling along effortlessly. The RX 450h driver can choose from four selectable driving modes, including EV, which allows the vehicle to operate on electric-only power at low speeds.

All 2014 Lexus RX models are fitted as standard with a long list of features and equipment, including 10-way power front seats, ebony or espresso bird’s eye maple and dual-zone automatic climate control system, nine-speaker Lexus Premium Audio System with a CD player, SiriusXM Satellite Radio capability with a 90-day trial subscription included, Bluetooth audio streaming and USB/iPod control.
