Ford released the details and specs of a new and improved version of its F-250 Super Duty pickup truck. The highlights of the 2015 F-Series Super Duty lineup include a new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine, and a new King Ranch special edition model.
The new engine features a couple of improvements including a larger GT37 turbocharger that replaces the previous GT32 model, enabling more airflow to the engine, increased turbine size to 72.5 millimeters from 64 millimeter, and the elimination of the wastegate system. Ford reckons it makes way beyond the first-gen Power Stroke’s 400 horsepower and 800 lb.-ft. of torque.
The new powertrain also benefits from a 6R140 TorqShiftsix-speed transmission uses a new torque converter to manage increased horsepower and torque, a fancy crankshaft, and four-layer exhaust manifold gasket for improved durability.
It’s just the engine though. Improvements made to the 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty also includes a strengthened frame, suspension, and new commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tires, all of which jon forces with the new engine to give it excellent towing capability.
As for the Texas-inspired King Ranch model, it comes with some special features including Caribou paint for the wheel lip moldings, bumpers and lower body. The bed rail caps, bumper caps and running boards are also finished in black.
