SEAT Leon ST 1 600x400 at IAA 2013: SEAT Leon ST

So the world debuts begin at one of the most important motoring events of the year that is the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) with this, the new SEAT Leon ST. The new estate version of the lovely Leon joins the hatchback five-door and SC three-door to complete the range.

An estate car is all about space, and as you’d expect from a car belonging to the VW Group family, the ST doesn’t compromise on its intended role. The SEAT Leon ST measures 4,535 mm long (264 mm longer than the five-door Leon), which results in a load capacity of 587 litres, rising to 1,470 litres with the rear seat backrests folded. What’s more, the rear seats fold competely flat, and it offers a twin-level boot floor that makes loading bulky items much easier.

Being a SEAT, the ST is also rather interesting to look at, what with those sharp angles, the signature grille, and those aggressive headlights that feature LED technology. Speaking of technology, the Leon ST can also be specified with SEAT Easy Connect multimedia system, ACC Adaptive Cruise Control with proximity radar, and DCC Adaptive Chassis Control with variable damper adjustment. You can even get progressive steering.

That brings us to the available engines for the SEAT Leon ST, which include a 1.2 TSI 105 PS, a 1.4 TSI, and a 1.8 TSI in the petrol range, and a 1.6-litre TDI and a 2.0 liter TDI with different outputs in the diesel lineup. Available on selected models are DSG dual-clutch gearbox and stop/start system.
