This is your first look at the 2015 Ford Mustang. This spy pictures only show the front-end of the new model, but they are enough to realize that when Ford said the next Mustang will have a ‘global’ design, they meant it is going to be inspired by the Fusion (Mondeo), which is a family sedan.
It does look nice, but, you know, you always expect a lot from a new version of an iconic model. Apart from the looks, the new Mustang is said to feature a lot of new technologies that gives it more global appeal, and also makes it easier to sell in Europe.
Mercifully, Ford is finally getting rid of the live rear axle in the Mustang – a technology dating back to the days of horse and cart – and replacing it with modern independent suspension with lots of multi-link stuff going on in it.
Upgrading the chassis to 21st century standards is nice, but some may argue that Ford was better off leaving the engines in their pre historic state. EcoBoost will play a major role in the Mustang’s future. And it’s not just the V6s it will affect. They are talking about a four-banger for the ‘Stang. Even saying the words — four-cylinder Mustang – doesn’t feel right!
