More and more car makers are following Mercedes-Benz in offering exclusive Black versions of their ordinary models. Unlike the German though, none of them actually follow it through and make a proper ‘Black’ version. They usually only paint the car black, and that’s about it.

That is the case here with the Subaru XV Black Limited Edition launched in the British market. In fairness though, this XV does come with a few extra bits and pieces that make it more appealing than a standard version. The main highlight of the car however remains the Crystal Black Silica paint job.

The extra goodies this model is blessed with include front, rear and side silver-resin underguards, front and rear mudflaps, a cargo step panel and a foldable cargo tray.  Inside, the Black model is fitted with heavy-duty rubber floor mats. You also get a nice amount of kit for your money, including standard Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, front, side, curtain and knee airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, heated front seats, wiper de-icers, cruise control, folding door mirrors, dual-zone air-conditioning, rear view safety camera, Bluetooth, HID headlamps, and rear privacy glass.

All Subaru XV Black models are powered by the firm’s 2.0-litre Boxer engine and come with four-wheel-drive, but the choice of diesel or petrol, and Lineartronic automatic transmission is yours. Prices start at £24,495 for the 2.0i Lineartronic and £24,995 for the 2.0 Boxer diesel.
