Subaru revealed the prices of the new Crosstrek Hybrid in America, where it has a sort of exclusive market as a fuel efficient hybrid crossover – save the much more expensive Lexus RX450h. The Crosstrek Hybrid’s blend of efficiency, spaciousness, and versatility can be yours from just $25,995.
Available in standard and Touring models, the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder BOXER engine and a 13.4 hp/48 lb. –ft. electric drive motor integrated into the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, hooked up to the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Sounds complicating, but it works.
Subaru SUVs have always been great at dealing with rough ground, while providing a decent ride on smooth ones. And with the aforementioned features, as well as 8.7-inch ground clearance and 4-wheel independent suspension, the XV hybrid is not going to disappoint.
As for the practical stuff, the cargo area is outfitted as standard with a removable cover as well as removable waterproof cargo tray, tie-down hooks and grocery bag hooks. Subaru dealers offer a number of accessories for the standard roof rails for carrying items such as bicycles and kayaks.
You also get plenty of kit, including keyless access and start, automatic climate control system, upgraded instrument cluster, high-grade multi-function display, body-color foldable side mirrors with integral turn signals, leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver stitching, chrome exterior door handles and more. The XV Crosstrek Hybrid Touring, starting at $29,295, model adds a touch-screen navigation system, leather-trimmed seating and a power moonroof.
