Looks like Peugeot is serious about launching a hybrid version of the 208 hatchback. They sent the recently revealed 208 HYbrid Concept out for a nice drive around the countryside and used this as an opportunity to let us get acquainted with it. This could be the future of family motoring.
It is a great idea to turn all family and commercial cars into EVs and hybrids. This way the precious petrol will be saved for high performance cars!
Peugeot 208 HYbrid Concept is powered by a 1.2 liter VTi three-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor. The output of this system is only about 108 horsepower, but still, it delivers a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of around 8 seconds which is acceptable. What the car excels at is CO2 rating, which is 48 g/km.
There are a number of features on the concept car that if it ever gets into production will definitely be omitted. It has carbon fiber body panels, polycarbonate windshield and a lightweight suspension, as well as 19-inch lightweight wheels, plus cameras instead of rear view mirrors. A production of this car in this trim would cost upwards of 50K Euros.
