Even though Toyota officials have made it abundantly clear that the convertible version of the GT86 sports car is on hold, they are bringing a new version of the FT-86 Open Concept to this year’s Tokyo Motor Show. This juicy red one is apparently here to keep out hopes high that someday they’re going to make it.

Maybe it’s just us, but Toyota GT86 Cabrio concept looks very production-ready in this shade of red they call “Flash Red”. We especially like the two-tone effect with the roof and A pillars finished in a sort of gunmetal grey. They contrast the red body very nicely indeed.

Toyota is currently working on a sedan version of the GT86 as well. Between the sedan and this convertible, we will be getting a new variant of this magnificent sports car over the next few years. Although, we hope they first come up with a more powerful version of the car that is already available in the market before getting on with new models.
