Toyota is giving the Yaris family a rather thorough upgrade for the New Year. Performance-wise, it is more like a spring cleaning, as they have increased the mpg and reduced CO2. But it really is in terms of specification that the 2014 Toyota Yaris and Yaris Hybrid have been updated.
The 2014 Yaris get revised trim levels with Active, Icon, Icon Plus and Trend. The Icon Plus is the desirable one 10-spoke, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED rear light clusters and front fog lights, as well as new Glacier Pearl paint finish, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, power windows front and rear, and automatic climate control. The Trend version, naturally, comes with more bells and whistles (see below), but then the price gets too high to be justifiable for a Yaris.
The 2014 Yaris gets an updated 1.4 D-4D diesel engine, in which combined cycle economy has gone up from 72.4mpg to 74.3 mpg, and CO2 down from 104g/km to 99g/km.
The Hybrid version doesn’t get technical updates, but it comes with new styling elements including a rear spoiler, 16-inch Trend alloys and part-leather seat upholstery, while the equipment manifest includes auto headlights and wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power windows all-round and keyless entry with push-button start.
The Yaris Hybrid is priced between £15,495 to £17,495, and the normal models between £10,895 to £15,995.
