At this year’s Chicago Auto Show Dodge will introduce a new version of the Journey with distinctive visual features and more standard equipment. It’s called the Journey Crossroad, and it is a rugged, kinda more athletic version of the 7-seat crossover. We’re just not sure about the name. It doesn’t suggest confidence.

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad gets its rugged looks from a set of bespoke exterior appointments including front and rear fascias, lower side sills, dark-tinted headlamps and tail lamps and unique 19-inch Hyper Black wheels. The interior is also improved, using new leather seat design with accent stitching and Liquid Graphite appliques, as well as an advanced infotainment system with 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen.

That is pretty much what sets the Crossroads apart from the standard Dodge Journey. Apart from the off-road-look parts, there isn’t anything to give the car special capability. You do get four-wheel-drive, but only as an option.

Available engines for the 204 Dodge Journey Crossroad include a 2.4-liter 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder with 173 horsepower and 166 lb.-ft. of torque that delivers 26 mpg, and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque and 25 mpg.

Priced from $24,995, the Crossroad slots between the Journey SXt and Limited models, and comes as standard with features such as power heated and foldaway mirrors, seven air bags, illuminated cup holders, Keyless Enter ‘n Go with push-button start and steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls.
