Porsche is very excited about their new 911 Targa, unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show. In fact, they believe what they’ve pulled off here will go down in the automotive history book as a legend; a future classic. The 991 Targa 4 is a worthy successor for the 1965 911 Targa.

Of course, if you are not a Porsche nerd, none of this makes any sense to you. But they’ve come up with a nice new promo video that kind of summarizes what the Targa experience is all about. Don’t know about you, but we do want one quite badly now:

The new Porsche 911 Targa draws inspiration from the original Targa what with the iconic wraparound rear window, the Targa bar and a removable roof. The only difference is, the new car features an elaborate, and somewhat over complicated, roof arrangement. But it’s part of its character. The new Targa only comes as an all-wheel-drive model, which is good, because the wide rear-end of the Carrera 4 goes well with the unique rear window.
