British luxury car maker Bentley revealed its lineup for the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) – Detroit Motor Show to you and me. Although they have nothing new to show, the lineup is still quite interesting. The Continental GT V8 S will make its American debut in Detroit, along with highly specced-up versions of the Flying Spur and the Mulsanne.
The Bentley Continental GT V8 S is the sportiest version of the aging grand tourer, powered by a tweaked version of the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 powertrain, much praised for its performance, efficiency, and noise. In the V8 S, this engine is rated at 521 bhp and 680 Nm (502 lb.ft) of torque. With the help of a close-ration ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine takes the big, heavy, and uber luxurious GT from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.5s) onto a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h). Unlike the W12 Bentley though, you need to fill the car up every 500 miles, not every 500 yards.
If you want a W12 Bentley, you should the new Flying Spur. This 625 PS four-door sedan goes from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds and has a top-speed of 200 mph (322 km/h). And as for luxury, it comes with bespoke hand-held Touch Screen Remote for an extensive range of features such as Rear Seat Entertainment suite including two 10” LCD screens, DVD players, wireless headphones and an on-board hard-drive jukebox, plus the options of full Wi-Fi connectivity and an 1100W Naim for Bentley premium sound system.
Bentley is also bringing the latest version of the Mulsanne to the 2014 NAIAS, fitted with new luxury features. There is the Entertainment Specification which turns the rear compartment into a luxurious office or cinema, complete with picnic tables designed for an iPad and wireless keyboard, and an on-board Wi-Fi router. What’s more, you get with twin, eight inch LCD headrest screens, incorporating a 20 GB hard drive and DVD player, played through a ‘Naim for Bentley’ premium audio system, two sets of Bluetooth headphones and a dedicated remote control. New colors and fitted luggage are also available.
So, in short, make sure you visit Bentley at 2014 Detroit Motor Show. You won’t be disappointed.
