It is a fact that Britain has the best motoring journalists in the world. They are the smartest, funniest, and most entertaining people in the business. Unfortunately, UK does not get many of the hot cars built in America. So we often miss out on the all-important Brit verdict. To get round this problem Drive TV, regularly send their English man Chris Harris over the pond.

In one of his most recent American voyages, Harris got to drive the new Corvette Stingray C7 and look at it from a European point of view; one that is used to more sophisticated stuff. He also brought a Porsche 991 Carrera S along, which although significantly more expensive than the Corvette, is a direct rival for the American sports car.

Here’s some fact and figures about both cars in case you need them:  Corvette Stingray is powered by a 6.2 liter LT1 naturally-aspirated V8 engine developing 460 horsepower. The Porsche on the other hand has a 3.8L horizontally opposed six cylinder engine with 400 horsepower. The ‘Vette in this test features an automatic transmission – which is rubbish, according to Chris – while Porsche benefits from a superb 7-speed PDK dual-clutch ‘box. The Corvette is fun, the Porsche is fun and fast. The Corvette is great value for money, the Porsche is much classier. And it goes on like this forever…
