Finally, and at the start of the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, Infiniti reveals its Q50-based concept car, called the Eau Rouge. This, says Infiniti, is what happens when a family sedan and a Formula 1 car mate. OK, they don’t say it directly, but that’s what the teaser at their website clearly shows!

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge is inspired by the championship-winning Infiniti Red Bull Formula 1 car mostly in terms of aerodynamics. The car features a well-designed carbon kit and benefits from lowered suspension and larger wheels. So naturally, it looks a lot better than the standard car.

The Eau Rouge body work consists of extended wheel arches, carbon front spoiler which joins hands with the carbon side skirts and the carbon rear diffuser to create a nice two-tone effect, and a larger deck lid spoiler. The highlight of the car’s design is the rear diffuser unit which is styled to mimic the back of a F1 car, complete with a F1-style LED light unit in the middle. The wheels on this car are 21-inch big and finished in a dark color to match the lower part of the body and contrast with the chromized red of the body.

Inside, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge features red carbon fiber on the doors and center console and dark chrome accenting in place of the standard car’s silver trims.

Infiniti remains tight-lipped about the Eau Rouge’s powertrain, but their boss, Johan de Nysschen, says that if they ever decide to make a production version of the Q50 Eau Rouge, it’ll have at least 500hp and 600lb/ft of torque. Good man.
