McLaren is yet to reveal the official Nurburgring lap time of the P1 hyper car, but the latest reports and rumors suggests the car has already recorded an astonishing 6 minutes 47 seconds, and it could do even better. If that turns out to be true, the P1 is a full 10 seconds quicker than Porsche 918.
Porsche’s official time is 6:57, and that is the best it can do. While McLaren’s time, according to insider sources who spoke to Autocar – is well under the seven minute mark. Some rumors are even suggesting 6 minutes 30 seconds, which is crazy fast.
Of course, we do realize that Nurburgring times are only good for bragging rights and car magazine pages, and that most of P1 and 918 buyers don’t even know what the hell a Nurburgring is, but we’re talking about hyper cars here, and numbers do matter. These cars are made entirely out of big number. So Ring times are as important as 0 to 60 or top speed.
