The SUV/crossover version of the Fiat 500 is gearing up for its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show as another set of its patent drawings leak. What you see here is probably the final production version of the car, as it’s got roof rails and fog lamps and everything.
Unlike the MINI Countryman, which is a crossover version of the standard MINI and the main rival for the Fiat 500X, the Italian car look substantially different than the original model. It is a lot bigger and has raise suspension, as well as four properly-sized doors. It is still a compact vehicle by crossover standards, though.
The main styling features of the 500 family, including the distinctive head and tail lights and the unique grille, are carried over to the Fiat 500X with minimal changes. After all, those features are what customers want. Take them away, and the 500X will be no different than a Panda 4×4.
Fiat 500X will share its engine lineup with the standard 500, which means it can be had with a 0.9 liter TwinAir two-cylinder; a 1.4 MultiAir four-cylinder; or a 1.6 liter MultiJet Diesel four-cylinder. There is no talk of an Abarth version for the time being.
