There are a lot of exciting new sports cars in the pipeline to be launched this year. But probably the most important one of them all is the new Mazda MX-5. The legendary roadster will boast in its brand-new version a KODO-inspired design that is said to be more butch in an effort to scare off girls and hairdressers, so true enthusiasts can finally enjoy the car’s amazing driving experience without the fear of losing their dignity.
Being a production of the KODO era, 2015 Mazda MX-5 should look very similar to the new Mazda3 and Mazda6. After all, these cars have strong similarities, brought on by the almost identical headlights and front grilles which form Mazda’s new corporate look. In other words, the new Mazda MX-5 should look something like what you see in these renderings here.
The 2015 Mazda MX-5 will share its platform with the upcoming Alfa Romeo Spider, a reincarnation of the original Alfa Spider using Mazda’s chassis and suspension, but Alfa’s own engine, body and interior. Sounds like quite a recipe, but they are definitely going to make sure that the Spider won’t upset the sales of the MX-5.
As for the performance, the new MX-5 will be getting a range of two or maybe more SKYACTIV engines; probably a 1.5 liter and a 2.0 liter. It will be available with a manual gearbox and a choice of soft top or folding hard top.
