Honda Civic’s busy little family becomes even more crowded as the Japanese car makers launches two clean and fuel efficient models into the market. They are the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid and the Civic Natural Gas models, delivering excellent fuel economy and value for money.
Unfortunately, those qualities mean compromise on styling and performance. Not that is matters really, as the Civic has never been an exciting car anyway, and people who by a hybrid or a CNG aren’t usually looking for fun and games. They want something trouble-free and easy on the wallet, and Civic are brilliant at that.
The 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid now offers an EPA rating of 44/47/45 city/highway/combined for a starting price of $24,635. The Civic CNG meanwhile offers a combined fuel economy of 31 mpg, which isn’t very great, but then CNG is cheaper than gasoline, so it balances out. The CNG starts from $26,640.
Both Honda Civic Hybrid and CNG benefit from a host of new standard features, including new Display Audio with 7-inch touchscreen that works like a smartphone and offers lots of connectivity and entertainment features, including apps. The hybrid Civic also gets Smart Entry with Push Button Start, while the CNG comes with leather seats, heated front seats, heated side mirrors and a six-speaker audio system.
The standard transmission on the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the CNG comes with a 5-speed automatic.
