A while ago we told you about a new British sports car firm launched by entrepreneur and automotive visionary David Brown. They are now ready to reveal the technical specifications, and a few obscure pictures, of their first production car, codenamed “Project Judi”.

To be based on the Jaguar XKR platform and featuring a bespoke aluminum crafted by hand, David Brown Automotive’s car will get the a familiar setup, including a 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel-drive.

David Brown makes no secret of the fact that Judi is basically a Jaguar XKR onto which they bolt on a bespoke interior and exterior. Doesn’t sound very interesting, but it’s a great idea. A lightweight body and that engine makes the car very quick with 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 155mph (248 km/h), and also quite good fun, if the XKR connection is any indication. The Jag is quite a lariy car, and that makes it a bit of a handful. And that makes it amusing to drive.

“As reliability is vital, we chose to adopt a thoroughly proven and acclaimed chassis that not only delivers dynamic performance but also lends itself to our lightweight aluminium design. Renown for its performance and handling, the XKR has been extensively developed and refined by one of the world’s greatest car manufacturers, making it an obvious choice on which to base our car” said David.

David Brown Automotive is planning to reveal “Project Judi” at the Top Marques Show in April.
