The new McLaren road car, called 650S, is an evolution of the 12C with a bit more power and the headlights from the P1 hyper car. That is what this car appears to be on the surface. Upon closer inspection, you realize there is more to what is, effectively, the Brit’s answer to the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

And here’s that closer look you need in order to appreciate the little details of the McLaren 650S. The guys at Evo Magazine had a chance to check out the car in person and even chat with the people who made it:

Offering a fresh new look, more brisk performance, and loads more driving fun, the McLaren 650S does render the 12C a rather pointless proposition. The car looks virtually identical to the million Euro P1 hyper car at the front, but according to the latest reports it is going to cost about 230,000 Euros. Nobody’s going to buy the 12C anymore. Looks like McLaren has shot themselves in the leg here.
