McLaren 650S: Pricing and Specs

McLaren 650S Specs 600x398 at McLaren 650S: Pricing and Specs

With a few days remaining to the world debut of the McLaren 650S at the Geneva Motor Show, the British auto maker released full performance details and official pricing of the car in the British market. The 650 is only marginally faster than the 12C, but it costs considerably dearer.

So let’s get tight to it and see what kind of numbers the McLaren 650S delivers. With a mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.8 liter V8 churning out 650 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, the 650S dashes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3 seconds flat, and accelerates to 200km/h (124mph) in just 8.4 seconds. Keep your foot in it, and eventually you hit 333 km/h (207 mph).

McLaren boasts about the fact that the 650S is a faster accelerating car than the legendary McLaren F1, but so is the 12C. If you pit the 12C and 650S against each other, the cheaper car will, at worst, be half a second behind the new boy. Is it worth paying an extra 20 grand for half a second? Well, if you go the dough, why the hell not!

That brings us to the price of 2014 McLaren 650S. It starts from £195,250 for the hardtop and £215,250 for the yet-to-be-revealed Spider version. If you get some MSO options or exclusive paint jobs, you can end up paying a lot more than that.

McLaren 650S comes as standard with IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony, DAB digital radio in Europe (SIRIUS satellite radio in North America), wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control, as well carbon ceramic brakes and Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. Economy-wise, the car returns 24.2 mpg (11.7 l/100 km) on the EU combined cycle, and a CO2 figure of 275 g/km.
