While we’re all waiting for a turbocharged or supercharged version of the Subaru BRZ or Scion FR-S to come and put an end to all the abuse the Japanese sports cars are getting for their lack of power, Subaru thinks what we want is some spoilers and stuff. That is what they have in mind for a BRZ Special Edition they are going to launch soon in America.

According to Car&Driver, the new Subaru BRZ Special Edition, which goes on sale over the next few months, boasts a host of styling features such as a front spoiler lip, chunky side skirts, and a sizable rear spoiler. It is modeled on the JDM-only BRZ tS.

The thing is, while the Japanese model benefits from STI-tuned suspension and brakes, the American BRZ SE won’t be getting any special mechanical treatments whatsoever. The biggest disappointment of all is the fact that the engine remains unchanged too, meaning you still have to make do with just 200 horsepower, which is pathetic.

Details and pricing of the Subaru BRZ Special Edition are expected to be revealed soon.
