Subaru announced its lineup for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, where they will be revealing a new concept, a hot new production car, and a racing car. The concept car is the VIZIV 2, the production car is the new WRX STI, and the racing car a motorsport version of the same car developed for 24 Hours Nurburgring endurance race.
None of these cars are of course completely new. The Subaru VIZIV 2 is an updated version of the VIZIV EVOLUTION CONCEPT, revealed at Tokyo Motor Show 2013, and previews a future crossover model reinforcing the brand’s “Vision for Innovation” philosophy.
The WRX STI will probably be the most interesting item on display at Subaru’s booth. The high-performance saloon car was first unveiled at the NAIAS earlier this year, and now makes its European debut in Geneva with the promise to reach the showrooms in the UK as well.
Despite its rally roots, the new WRX STI has spawned a new type of racing car designed to take on the Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance race later this year. Apart from the visible racing paraphernalia, the mechanicals in this car are very similar to the road-going version.
