WRX fans in Britain lived throughout the 2013 under constant dread that Subaru may not sell the new version of their beloved speed machine in the UK. Now they can relax, nay, rejoice as the Japanese car maker confirms the launch of the 2015 model in the British market, and prices it £4,000 lower than previous-generation WRX STI.

That’s right, the 2015 Subaru WRX STI UK spec starts at £28,995. You get a lot of car for your money, starting with an all new exterior that is a lot better-looking than the WRX that went before. What’s more, the chassis is new too; new and a lot stronger than before. It’s been stiffened to improve torsional rigidity.

The cherry for the top of the 2015 WRX cake is the latest iteration of Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) with Active Torque Vectoring allows for maximum control and driver engagement. That, combined with 300 PS output of the car’s 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four engine, makes the new WRX a hugely fun car.

The good news is that the fun driving experience of the new WRX does not cost you practicality and convenience. The 2015 model is more spacious, boasting a 25mm increase in wheelbase and more shoulder and elbow room as well. The boot space is also increased by 40 liters.

The new Subaru WRX STI is separating itself from glorious rally pedigree that made it so famous, gunning for a new career in circuit racing, starting a new racing version of the car being developed to contest the annual Nürburging 24-Hour Race in June.
