A few months ago we saw Jay Leno going all the way to the UK to try the new McLaren P1 hyper car in an exclusive test drive around the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold. That drive was enough to convince Jay, a tier-one McLaren enthusiast, he should buy one. So he did.

And here it is, in all its Volcano Yellow glory. The car was recently delivered through McLaren dealership in Beverly Hills. Jay Leno’s McLaren P1 is the first production unit in America. He also got the first 12C, and the first McLaren Mercedes SLR.

Jay Leno’s McLaren P1 comes with a color combo of yellow and carbon, which is pretty much the most basic paint work you can order for the car. But, as we know, Jay is more interested in the substance than appearances. He bought this car not because of the way it looks, but rather its advanced powertrain, consisting of a 3.8 liter bi-turbo V8 and an electric motor; it aerodynamic efficiency; and the fact that it is mind-bogglingly fast.
