McLaren has already launched an online configurator for the new 650S super car, and it’s a pretty handy tool allowing you do choose every last details of the vehicle’s appearance. Now though they’ve also launched a tablet app that does the same thing, only more. It allows you to place your desired background image behind their configured car!

That, McLaren believes, will have a strong psychological effect on the person configuring the car. For instance, if a Chinese millionaire gets hold of the McLaren 650S Tablet App and tailor one, and then put it in the Shanghai city center at dusk, he can’t help but imagine himself in that car in that exact location. He is more likely to order the thing on the spot.

You can even take a picture of your own driveway and insert your virtual McLaren in it. The in-built functionality of the app will detect a range of backgrounds to adjust lighting and reflections accordingly, ensuring the final image looks as realistic as possible. The configurator features all the official paint jobs, wheels and exterior carbon fibre options.

‘The McLaren 650S is the latest addition to our range and is another groundbreaking and beautiful supercar, engineered with the latest innovations in powertrain, suspension and aerodynamic technology,’ said Director of Sales and Marketing, Greg Levine. ‘In order to match that innovation, this app offers our fans the chance to closely interact with the car and explore their dreams of the McLaren 650S. They will certainly have a great deal of fun in the process by creating highly original images which they can share with fellow McLaren fans around the world.”
