SEAT Pranks Fans in Leon Cupra ‘Simulator’ Publicity Stunt

In preparation for the launch of the launch of the new Leon Cupra hot hatch, the fastest car the Spanish manufacturer SEAT has ever built, they came up with a cool publicity stunt. They invited fans to take part in what call the ‘extreme simulator’. That is not what it seems to be, though.

Instead of the simulator, SEAT puts the fans inside a real Leon Cupra with blacked-out windows and monitors that show a real-time video feed from the cameras mounted on the front of the car. So while the passengers think they are on a simulator, the car is actually moving about, chasing a red Cupra to the Dockside area.

The stunned look on the faces of these men when they get out is priceless:

The new SEAT Leon Cupra is powered by an all-new 2.0 TSI engine with dual injection and variable camshaft timing. Depending on the version, it delivers an output of 195 kW / 265 PS or 206 kW / 280 PS. The DCC dynamic chassis control, the front differential lock, the progressive steering, the Cupra Drive Profile and the standard-fit full-LED headlamps are among the high-end features of this hot hatch.

Despite all this, some people call it the Golf GTi for the poor people, which is a bit harsh. The Cupra is a very fine car in its own right. Sure, it has a lot of VW parts in it, but SEAT deserves recognition for what they’ve achieved here.
