Chevrolet contributes yet another vehicle to the law enforcement fleet with the new Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Special Service Vehicle. Like other SSV models, this Silverado is specially equipped for Police use, and comes with two or four-wheel-drive and two box sizes.
Special Service Vehicle comes as a package for the Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab 1WT and 1LS trims. The only engine available is the 355 horsepower 5.3L EcoTec3 V-8 which is E85 capable and can do up to 23 mpg in 2WD guise. The Police can also choose between the standard 6’6” pickup box and a shorter 5’8” box.
As for what makes the Special Service Vehicle so special, the list includes items chosen carefully to cater to the offiers’ need, such as standard 170-amp high-output alternator and 730-CCA auxiliary battery to power lights, radios, computers, cameras, flasher system for headlamps and taillamps, auxiliary dome lamp, spotlamp – driver or driver and passenger, and standard wiring for grille, lamp and sirens.
What’s more, the SSV Silverado comes with common key package, vinyl rear seats, front center seat delete, and rear vision camera. The common key option is particularly interesting, as it allows municipalities to use one key to operate all of their Silverado SSVs and 2015 Tahoe police vehicles.
