For whatever reason, GM decided not to offer the Chevrolet SS high-performance sedan with a manual gearbox from launch. They quickly realized that was a silly thing to do, and are planning to launch a new manual version. They are going one better, actually, bringing in the Magnetic Ride Control system as well.
Magnetic Ride Control is a GM-exclusive suspension system usually reserved for their sportiest models like the Corvette. The addition of this system to the Chevrolet SS will not only enhance its handling and driving experience, it will give it more prestige.
Chevrolet SS is blessed with a magnificent engine, a 6.2 liter V8 with 415 horsepower and one of the best V8 soundtracks ever. It also has a fantastic rear-drive chassis with limited-slip diff. It was a pity that you couldn’t have this setup with a proper manual gearbox. But that issue is, apparently resolved.
Mind you, this whole report is based on a tweet by MotorTrend. Chevy is yet to confirm the launch of the manual SS with Magnetic suspension.
