Honda Mean Mower, in case you don’t know, is a special sort of lawnmower designed and built by Honda just for fun. Powered by a superbike engine, this thing is officially the fastest lawnmower in the world. So it’s not at all odd that it recently took on the fearsome Spa Francorchamps race track.
With a top speed of 116 mph, it would take a long time for Honda Mean Mower to complete a lap of Spa, even in the hands of Honda’s World Touring Car Team racing driver Tiago Monteiro. So instead they decided to see how it performs on just one of the corners of the track, the famous ‘Eau Rouge’.
Tiago warmed up the mower for this session by cutting the grass around the corner!
Honda Mean Mower is based on a HF2620 Lawn Tractor, but pretty much everything in it is changed. The 109 hp 1,000 cc engine comes from a Honda VTR Firestorm, and the suspension and wheels from a racing ATV. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in just four seconds.
“I’ve competed at Spa in many different cars but this was a little bit different! It’s fast, very fast, and quite sensitive, making it difficult to drive at pace. With such huge power and acceleration you need a lot of concentration to take on the Eau Rouge, particularly on such a wet track,” said Tiago.
