Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) released the results the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI models crash tests, and awarded the Japanese sports saloon with the Top Safety Pick accolade. This is the first time a version of the WRX is named Top Safety Pick.
The success of the new 2015 Subaru WRX in safety tests is partly due to the advanced design and build of the new model, and partly due to the safety features it is blessed with. Not to mention the car’s sophisticated electronics and the all-wheel-drive system play a major role in prevent a crash form happening, which means you can count them as active safety features.
2015 Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder 268 horsepower engine and is priced from $26,295. The WRX STI model gets the 305 horsepower 2.5-liter boxer, and starts at $34,495. The both feature a standard six-speed manual gearbox and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
The STI version comes with Alcantara seating surfaces and standard LED exterior lighting, and the Limited trim adds leather, a power driver’s seat, a moonroof and a premium Harman/Kardon audio system. With Mitsubishi Lancer now on hold, the WRX can have the market all to itself. It sure is well-prepared for it.
