Lately Porsche has been making films about some of the car at their museum with deep historical significance. The latest film showcases one of the most interesting concept cars they have ever produced, a V8-powered Porsche 911.

The Flat-six engine at the back-end of the car has always been the most important characteristic of Porsche 911. But in 1988 the engineers developed a prototype powered by an Audi V8 as a possible successor for the 959. This is it:

As we all now know, it didn’t happen and the Porsche 911 V8 Concept was consigned to the history books. Porsche did have a front-engined V8 sports car though, the 928, and it was quite successful. But since the demise of that they never really gave the idea another thought.
