Only a few years ago you would do anything to avoid stumbling upon Honda’s booth at any given motorshow or car event. They had nothing to present but mind-numbing boring machines designed for the family. These days, though, their booth is the first you want to visit thanks to cars like the Honda NSX and Civic Type R.
Both concepts are now headed to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, their first public appearance in the UK, and giving the visitors a taste of what they will be getting in a few years time as production models.
Honda NSX is, of course, a high-end hybrid sports car that is said to be able to eat Porsche 911 for breakfast. So it is going to be hugely expensive. The Civic Type R, though, is a high-performance Honda we can all afford, and it comes from a family of properly hot hatchbacks. Granted, the previous version didn’t really live up to the expectations, but the 2015 model has all the right ingredients.
Other fun stuff you can do at Honda’s stand this year include race remote control cars around a miniature race track, and ride real off-road motorcycles around a specially created course just next to the famed Goodwood Hillclimb. The models available to try will be the CRF50, CRF110, CRF125, CRF250L and CRF250X. No experience or license required.
Honda appears to be focused once again the sporty side of things. They are even returning to Formula 1 with an all-new car next year.
