A new rendering of the McLaren P13, an entry-level super car by the British car maker set to launch over the next few years, has emerged speculating possible looks of what is already nicknamed the “Baby Mac.” It is a very good job as far as rendering go, but hopefully it’s not very accurate in terms of styling.
We realize that Ron Dennis does not care much for flamboyant designs and give functionality a higher priority, but what is presented in this rendering is way too unsexy, even by McLaren’s standards. The designer has taken his cues from the recently-launched McLaren 650S, itself inspired rather heavily by the P1 hyper car.
Mechanically, McLaren P13 will be a Porsche 911 rival, boasting a toned-down version of the existing 3.8 liter V8 which powers all McLaren cars with around 500 horsepower. That means the P13 would be more powerful than the Carrera S and more of a Turbo rival, and the proposed price tag of around £120K reinforces this argument. But fundamentally, McLaren P13 is pitched as a sports car not a super car.
