Following a couple of fairly intriguing teasers Renaultsport now takes the wraps off their latest creation, the Megane 275 Trophy. Designed to wipe the smile off SEAT Leon 280’s face by reclaiming the title of fastest FWD car around the Nurburgring, the Trophy is a hard-core hot hatch.

Renault makes no secret of the fact that the Megane RS 275 Trophy is built for the track, and that if you don’t like a tight Cup chassis and stiff suspension, well, that’s your problem. The revised Cup chassis in this car is paired with a standard limited-slip differential to make the best of the car’s potent turbocharged engine.

Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy is powered by the same two-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the standard models, but with 10 extra horses, for a total 275hp and 360 Nm of torque. It is fitted with a bespoke Akrapovic titanium exhaust system which not only contributes to the performance by being incredibly light, also makes an eargasmic soundtrack.

Other track goodies include an available set of adjustable Öhlins Road & Track dampers with steel springs, coming straight from Megane N4 rally car, and MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The looks of the limited edition Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy are also different than the standard model. It comes with F1-style silver blade, 19-inch Speedline wheels in black, checkered flag graphics and Trophy decals, plus a carbon fiber tailpipe. Inside, you get leather and Alcantara Recaro bucket seats with red stitching, as well as red stitching for the Alcantara steering wheel trim and handbrake gaiter, as well as an alloy gear lever knob.

The pricing for the Trophy as well as its official Nurburgring time are yet to be revealed. The latter is said to be well under 8 minutes.
