If you remember a while ago Lexus asked its Facebook fans to help them come up with a name for this unique shade of orange they are offering as a paint option for the new RC F. After sifting through hundreds of suggestions, they have now picked the winner.

‘Solar Flare’ is the name Lexus thinks suits the character the orange RC F best. Picked as the best by Richard Balshaw, Lexus Director, the name will now become an official color for the RC F in the UK when the model goes on sale at the end of the year.

So if you go into a Lexus showroom and say I want an orange Lexus RC F please, they won’t respond. You have to say Solar Flare. They have put too much effort into this name and they are going to use it!

Lexus RC F is powered by a 5.0-litre 32-valve V8 engine, estimated at 450bhp and 520Nm of torque. It has an eight speed direct-shift transmission, an active rear wing and a torque vectoring differential. The body, meanwhile, benefits from lightweight carbon fiber panels. The car is pitched as a proper rival for the BMW M4.
